~ Gypsy Love ~

Daisies and lavender galore
Aviators over braided hair
San Cisco and Marina fill our soundtracks
Flower crowns and skater skirts
Old records in 50's diners
Marilyn looking over us

With icy blue eyes and rosy cheeks
Electric touch fizzles within us
To make it worth love would feel beautiful
Lace shorts and crochet sweaters grip our olive skin
Heartbreak fills the hearts of those who fall
Tears flood our glass eyes
Forgotten were memories

Intensity fills what used to be precious
Left to part our separate ways
Wondering if we'll ever meet again
Fate chooses to play with the heavens
And glitter rains upon us

~ Wandering Stars ~

Of those who cluster together
Some make it through
Yet we stare

As if they alone glow the brightest
We misunderstand
What us as society believes

But they all know
Eyes wander past
To feel invisible
Left unknown

~ Kristin's Choice ~ Chapter 3 ~

~ Main Characters ~

` Kristin

` Lo - Kristin's bestie
` Audrina - Kristin and Lo's friend, and also Brody's girlfriend
` Brody - Audrina's girlfriend and Kristin's ex
` Scott - Brody's friend

Kristin tightened the bright blue elastic that was twisted through her wavy hair and looked round the pet shelter. In her spare time she would normally volunteer at 'Health for the Paws', her local pet shelter. She leaned against the bare counter and sighed as the sound of a hose flicking on and off echoed through the shelter. Ryan, her manager was on washing duty since Cassy, who was doing hours for her police arrest didn't show up.

"Kristin!"
Kristin looked round and realized the noise had come from Ryan in the other room. She calmly paced to the other room and popped her head round the edge of the wall.
"Yea?"
"I forgot to tell you, but we have a new volunteer who'll be here in about 5 minutes, and he'll need some help with you know the do's and don'ts. So, since I trust you," he winked at Kristin, his brown hair covering part of his crystal blue eyes, " I thought you wouldn't mind just checking up on him and stuff like that."
Kristin giggled, "Sure boss." she mockingly gave him a salute and walked back to the counter.

Kristin was so distracted by looking down at her phone checking her texts, she didn't hear the telltale sounds the new volunteer had arrived. Soft footsteps approached the front, and a small gasp came from the newbie. Kristin still unaware, her thumb gliding over the screen. "Uh hum." The sound of someone clearing there throat woke Kristin out of her trance,  she suddenly looked up, her jaw dropping.

"Holy shit." she whispered under her breath. "Um, hey Brodyy." she slurred nervously. She awkwardly put her phone back into her bag under the counter.
"Hey Kristin. This is a big surprise." With uncertainty he looked around the room, probably noticing the stack of neon bright fliers all around the walls.
"Yea, to say the least. So I'm guessing your the new volunteer?"
"Yep." he nodded.
She took a deep breath and plastered on that oh so familiar fake smile."Ok, so just come with me and I'll show you around and get you started"

Once Kristin had given Brody a tour of the whole shelter, she led him to the room where all the animals were kept. "Okay, so today since you're just starting out, you get all the easy jobs. All you have to do is refill their water and food bowls." She pointed to the large packet of dog and cat food in the corner and the sink with a dripping tap connected to it. "Sounds easy enough." he smiled, "Oh and I hope our situation and all that doesn't make us working together awkward." he added. "Oh, of course not." she lied for what seemed like the millionth time that week.

Kristin walked to the 'Extra Care' Room' where a small family of Huskies had been taken in. They were found outside in one of the local parks, and had been dumped in a small box. The mother Husky and her 5 puppies lay, all trying to become the warmest. Kristin smiled as she pet the mother who now was extra affectionate.

"Oh shit!" she looked up and rolled her eyes as she jogged to the room where Brody was, meeting Ryan along the way. They both entered the 'Holding Room' where Ryan stood helplessly. Evidently, the big packet of pet food, or what was left of it, had been spilled all across the wooden floors.
"This was not my fault." Brody put his hands up and backed away slowly. Ryan sighed, "Kristin, can you help him clean it up. All of this is gonna have to go back into the packet and be fed to the animals. We don't have enough cash to buy some more this month." Ryan stuffed his hands into his pants and walked back to the other room. Kristin turned back to Brody who had his back against the shelf.

"Great." she bit her lip and bent down, starting to pile the food back into the bag.
"I am so dumb, I mess up on my first day." Kristin looked up from the food and gave him a hopeful smile. "Well you're not alone. On my first day here I somehow managed to slip into dog crap, and ended up smelling like shit for the rest of the week." Brody smiled and started laughing,
"So what do you do now? As in a job?" he asked as he bent down to help her.
"Well, I'm an architect at this firm." She made sure that their hands weren't going to touch like in one of those sappy, romantic chick flicks, that were always so predictable.
"Ha, nice, I thought you wanted to be up there with all the stars."
"Well, I guess not all our dreams come true." she cleared her throat and sat down, "So what do you do?" she asked curiously.
Ever since high school Brody was the senior quarter-back. Always getting the girls. "I'm a mechanic, funnily enough."
Kristin started breaking out with laughter, "Are you serious?"
Brody looked into Kristin's eyes and nodded, "Yea."
"Wow. No offence but I would never have guessed that you were heading that way."
"Well, you know my parents. Always wanting me to get a steady and well payed job."
Kristin nodded. She remembered the first time she had met Brody's parents and grimaced. They were a very, let's just say, stern couple. Personally, the only reason she thought that their marriage survived was because they were always apart, on business trips or private get-aways. So they never got the chance to actually get together and talk about their marriage.
"You okay?" Brody questioned, the corner of his lips turning down.
"Yep." Kristin quickly nodded.

Within 10 minutes they had gotten all the food back into the bag triumphantly with ease and had moved on with their other jobs they had to do at the shelter, both a bit more relaxed.

~ Kristin's Choice ~ Chapter 2 ~

~ Main Characters ~

` Kristin
` Lo - Kristin's bestie
` Audrina - Kristin and Lo's friend, and also Brody's girlfriend
` Brody - Audrina's girlfriend and Kristin's ex
` Scott - Brody's friend

As Kristin followed Lo, thoughts started rushing through her head. Everything was messed up now. She couldn't believe it. Brody was dating Audrina. Anger rushed through her body, but she had to snap herself out of it. She had broken up with him because it just wasn't working, but why did she suddenly feel this urge to run up to him and confess that she had spent so many sleepless nights thinking about him, and that she didn't know whether calling it quits was the right thing to do then. But it was over, he had moved on. Kristin felt Lo tug on her hand making sure that she was alright and gave her a small smile. "It's gonna be okay." Lo whispered to Kristin. Kristin let out a breath and tried to make herself think that, but it just wasn't working.

"So how do you know Brody?" she suddenly heard Audrina's high pitched voice run through her head.
"Oh, um we know each other from back in high school." Kristin tried to smile, but she knew that she should tell the truth.
"Actually.."
"Yea, we were in a lot of classes together, as well." Brody interrupted, giving Kristin a meaningful look.
Kristin at first felt hurt, but then realized that he probably didn't want this to mess up his relationship.
"Um, yea." she added.
"Oh cool. I thought you guys like dated or something." Audrina joked.
"Yea, that would've been crack up." Kristin murmured, letting out a laugh with everyone else.

Kristin was suddenly aware of the party going on around her and smiled to herself. She came here to have fun, and that was something she was gonna try do.

"Lo, you wanna come with me to get a drink?" Kristin nudged Lo.
"Yep." Lo followed Kristin to the kitchen where a guy was decked out in only board shorts.
"Want a drink ladies?"
"Yep." Lo giggled, as she looked over at Kristin.
"Oh, and one for me."
"Cool." The guy said as he filled a cup for each of them. "By the way I'm Scott."
"Nice to meet you." Lo smiled.
Kristin smiled and laughed inside as she saw the telltale signs that Lo already had already developed a thing for Scott.
"I'll leave you guys for now. Lo, I'll meet you by the pool when you're done."
Lo started to interrupt but was stopped by Kristin, "Bye." She waved as she walked away, listening to Lo and Scott get back to talking.

Kristin was now sitting on the edge of the pool, slowly taking sips of her beer and looked around. She spotted Brody walking towards her and gasped. She turned back to the pool and preyed that he wouldn't talk to her.

"Hey." Kristin heard from behind her.
She sighed and turned to look up at Brody, "Hey." she awkwardly nodded.
Brody looked around and took a seat next to her. "So, yea. I guess you now know that me and Audrina are dating."
"Yep."
"I just wanted to make sure that everything was okay with us, cause you seemed pretty tense when she introduced me."
"Oh, it was nothing. I was just surprised. That's all." she lied as she fiddled with her cup.
"And sorry about that whole pretending we didn't date thing. I just would rather Audrina didn't know."
"It's okay."
"Cool. I guess I'll be seeing you around." She nodded as he got up.
"Bye."
"Bye."

She turned back to the pool and bit her lip, the party wasn't going as well as she had hoped.

By the time the party had died down she and Lo were back in the car driving to their place.
"So, how was Scott?" Kristin smiled as she glanced towards Lo.
"Well, I got his number." she smiled waving her arm.
"Nice choice of where to write it down."
Lo rolled her eyes, "We didn't have paper, so.." she shrugged.
"You had to do what you had to do." Kristin thought back to her talk with Brody and for some reason felt unhappy.
"You okay?" Lo asked,worryingly.
"Yea, it was just this chat I had with Brody while you were with Scott."
"What was it about?"
"He just wanted to know if I was okay with him and Audrina being together."
"Are you?"
"No, but I said yes anyways." Kristin confessed.
"At least we don't have to see him anymore."
"Yea."

As Lo and Kristin neared home, little did they know that Brody would soon pop up in their life, in a very unexpected way.

Kristin smiled at herself in the full-length mirror as she wondered if she looked good in her hot pink bikini. The sun that was peeking through the blinds, showed off her dazzling tan as she started to tie her hair up in a top knot. She suddenly heard soft footsteps coming towards her door and spotted Lo's ebony black locks in a braid.

" Can I borrow those really cool purple and black feather earrings, that you got when we were in Cabo?"

"Sure." Kristin wandered to the hanger with all her earrings on it, and picked up the ones Lo had described.

"Here, oh and are you nearly ready?" she asked cheerfully. They were heading to her and Lo's friend Audrina's pool party, and were so excited.

"Yep, just have to put these on," she said waving the earrings, "and I'll be all set. How bout you?"

"Um, I just need to find a good cover up to wear and then I'll be all ready."

"Cool." Lo said as she headed back to her room.

Soon enough they were all done and were in the car heading to Audrina's place.

"Did you hear that Audrina has a new boyfriend?" Lo asked coyly.

Kristin giggled, " Yea, she texted me bout it a few days ago."

"Wow, same here. She must want to flaunt it like mad." Lo grinned as she checked her phone before popping it back in her bag. They both gasped as Kristin pulled up to Audrina's house, that they both liked to call a mansion. Kristin swiftly pulled the key out of ignition and stepped out of the car at the same time as Lo. They could hear a commotion inside and smiled as Lo knocked on the door. As Kristin adjusted her cover-up so it ran off her shoulder she heard Lo gasp for the second time that day.

"What?" she quizzically looked at Lo and followed her gaze. Kristin's mouth fell open as she stood face to face with her ex Brody, with his hand wrapped tightly around Audrina's waist.

"Hey guys. Oh, this is Brody my boyfriend." Audrina looked at Kristin and Lo's goldfish like faces.

"Yea, I'm pretty sure I've met Brody." Kristin stammered as she fiddled with her shorts.

Audrina looked at Brody who was too shell shocked to speak, and let out a nervous laugh.

"Um, I think you guys should come in."

"Okay." Lo murmured, before walking into the hallway and pulling Kristin behind her.
